I am originally from Düsseldorf, Germany, where my entire family still lives, and I spent my whole life there before moving to the U.S. to begin my undergraduate career at the University of Miami. I went to an international school, where I learned English from a young age, which helped shape my global perspective and prepared me well for studying abroad. My younger brother is now at Georgia Tech, and despite the distance, I remain very close with my family. The mix of international experience, adaptability, and my family ties has played a big role in shaping who I am.
The University of Miami was the best choice for my undergraduate career that I could have chosen. I believe it truly made me grow into the person I am now and I will be forever grateful for my experiences here. Although it took some time before I figured out what to major in - I started with Management, then Finance, then Marketing - I am glad I ultimately decided on Marketing and Legal Studies. In both of these majors I have learned so much and I am excited to see what the next chapter holds.
This August I will start law school either in New York or Miami. Especially my mandatory law classes during my freshmen year and my internships during the summer of 2023 fueled my passion of law. I am interested in international law because I like the idea of learning across different legal systems and diving deeper into international relations and cultures. I am excited for this next experience!
During the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to intern at Osborne Clark in Cologne, Germany. I worked alongside the employment law team and it was a truly great experience. I read several different cases, attended court hearings, and listened to client meetings, all revolving about different topics in employment law. The team I worked with was very fun and I learned a lot about various employment law topics.
I also interned with Bird & Bird during the summer of 2023 and worked alongside the sports law and employment law teams. This was also a great experience, especially since sports is a big passion of mine and the cases I learned about were very interesting. I also liked that they were mostly international cases, which ties in with my interest of international law. Overall, it was also an insightful internship and I am glad I was able to further my knowledge of the legal system.
